BASIS’s 22nd AGM held

BASIS’s 22nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held today (18 September 2021) at RAOWA Convention center, Mohakhali, Dhaka. The meeting highlighted to continue contribution of BASIS on the path to build a digital Bangladesh. At the same time, it is urged from the meeting to prepare the nation for the Fifth Industrial Revolution besides facing the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution from now. BASIS’s president Syed Almas Kabir presided over the AGM. Mr. Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Vice President (Admin) of BASIS briefed the members about BASIS 2020’s activities through his presentation. Where, Mr. Mushfiqur Rahman, Vice President (Finance) of BASIS presented an audit report for the year 2019-2020. After the presentation a significant number of members took part in the discussion session and gave their views. On the 22nd AGM BASIS president, Syed Almas Kabir said, our world is now experiencing unimaginable advances of digital technology. In the upcoming days, Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, Quantum Computing, Biotechnology, Robotics, IoT, 5G, 3D printing and fully automated vehicle technology will radically change the world as we know now. Fortunately, we are on the path of successfully building Digital Bangladesh. We have a long way to go ahead. BASIS, along with its member organizations, continues to play a significant role in this regard to get ready the nation. He added, The Fourth Industrial Revolution will wipe out many jobs of our labor market that exist now. In this case, we have to prepare from now. We need to Reskilling and Upskilling people of our current labor market so that we can employ them in other sectors. For doing this, we have to start working and take initiatives at the government and private sector levels from now on. We want all IT/ITES business organizations in the country to be a member of BASIS. We want to work with all of you to make an effective contribution to the development of the country's Information and communication technology (ICT) industry. He also highlighted the steps taken by BASIS in the last year to recover the damaged business in the Covid-19 situation and create a business-friendly environment in his speech. “BASIS Digital Shop" launched at the 22nd Annual General Meeting. Along with BASIS member organizations members and employees, anyone from home and abroad can make purchases from "BASIS Digital Shop" online and will be able to enjoy special discounts. Other issues that have come into the limelight of 22nd AGM are: Strengthening the role of BASIS at a national and international level, ensuring the priority of Bangladeshi software companies in government projects, involving local companies in importing hardware and software from abroad and persuading the government to meet the conditions of production in locally, enhancing industry research, strengthening BASIS Secretariat. BASIS members called on continue ongoing activities and taking new initiatives for BASIS to play a stronger role. Former BASIS presidents, former directors of BASIS, Standing committee members, Chairman & Co-chairmans, Ms. Farhana A. Rahman, Senior Vice President of BASIS, Mr. Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Director of BASIS,  Mr. Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Director of BASIS, Mr. Didarul Alam, Director of BASIS, Mr. Rashad Kabir, Director of BASIS and more than thousand member organization of BASIS representatives were also present. Earlier, An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of BASIS was held at the same venue before the Annual General Meeting to amend the BASIS Code of Conduct.
